Bio
Born in Beijing, Yasmina Yuexi began her artistic journey at the age of four, delving into music through piano and classical training. Her passion for music flourished, leading her to join the Golden Sail Choir during middle school, where she sang in the alto section and played piano. This period included performances with the school choir at the prestigious National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in China.
In 2009, Yasmina’s artistic path took a transformative turn as she discovered Flamenco, which she pursued across global cultural hubs, including Madrid, Sevilla, New York, and Beijing. Since 2018, she has broadened her dance skills to encompass Ballet, Classical Chinese Dance, Jazz, Krump, Tap Dance, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop, studying in both New York and Beijing.
Simultaneously, Yasmina ventured into video production, creating works such as "Pregón de Candied Haws por Flamenco," "Flamenco por Spring Festival Overture," "Flamenco Christmas Jingle Jangle" and "Unnecessary Fish."
In 2023, she won first prize at the Flamenco Certamen USA, the only event of its kind in the U.S., which opened doors for Yasmina to perform at renowned venues across the country, such as Alegrías la Nacional in New York City and Cava Tablao Flamenco in Miami.
In 2024, Yasmina performed with Blackbird Dance Company in their inaugural program, The Message, a meditation on the human experience amid climate change. Later that year, she was awarded a grant by the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA)’s Performing Artist-in-Residence program to develop her first project, Echoes of Golden Venture. The project portrays the sentiments and resilience shared by immigrants, honoring their pursuit of a better life and ensuring their stories are never forgotten. Yasmina was also accepted as a 2024-25 Artist-in-Residence through the AiRE Program by Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, marking another milestone in her artistic journey.
Her diverse and evolving practice reflects a deep commitment to exploring cultural intersections and emotional expression through a dynamic range of artistic mediums.

Performed by Aliesha Bryan, Olyda Espinal, Yasmina Yuexi and Georgia Dahill-Fuchel.
MAY 20-21, 2024 @ NEW YORK
Museum of Chinese in America’s 2024-2025 Performing-Artist-In-Residence program welcomes a cohort of 5 performing artists to generate a theme-based project. This year’s theme, Heteroglossia, encourages the resident artists to explore the construct of identity based on their particular lifestyles and cultures.
“MOCA Performs – Heteroglossia” will present the resident artists’ works-in-progress. In this presentation, resident artists will share the vision for their projects and present a draft of the project. Audience will have the opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with the resident artists on the projects, and learn about the cultural significance behind each of resident artists’ works.
